200 years into the future humans have peacefully colonised deep space. Things have taken a dark turn as recent xeno discoveries have turned hostile. News reaches HQ alien life forms have overtaken several human colonies in the outer region, and you are amongst the best pilots to repel their offensive.

Xenoblast puts you charge of a class 2 defence ship, an agile fighter with the weaponry to take on the hostile aliens. Guide your ship safely through the colonies, destroying as many xeno fighters as possible, and remove the motherships delivering alien drones to the human colonies. Along the way make sure you collect as many Power Pods as possible. These will recharge your smart bomb, but more importantly enable the portal to hyper jump to the next zone at the end of the level.

Take on hoards of alien ships through 7 levels of arcade shoot-em-up action and liberate the colonies before it's too late! Good luck!

To play use Q, A, O, P to move your ship in different directions. Press SPACE to fire. To release a smart bomb press S.

H pauses the game.

Joystick support: Sinclair / Interface2 is supported. When playing with joystick, use SPACE for smart bomb.

Hello!! Sorry for the intrusion, hehehe. My name is Felipe, and until recently, I have been editing games for the Spectrum on cassette. Due to personal and work reasons, I’m going to stop editing, and I'm saying goodbye with a compilation of homebrew games for The Spectrum on USB. I want it to be the best and most complete compilation of homebrew games that has ever been made. It will be a non-profit edition, just to provide users of The Spectrum with a pack to spend hours and hours in front of their ZX. I’ve seen some of your games on http://Itch.io and wanted to ask if you would be interested in contributing any of your ZX games to this compilation. I already have legendary creators from the scene on board, but I’d also like to reach out to you. It can be one game, two, or as many as you want, in .TAP format. Even simply granting me permission and letting me know which games I could include would be enough, and I can download them from http://Itch.io. We have created a system where the games will be encrypted, and no one will be able to use them digitally; they will only be playable on their The Spectrum, Divide, or computer. My email is playonretro@gmail.com. Best regards, and thank you very much

Sadly I've just learnt via Retro Gamer magazine that Tony Kingsmill died from cancer in February 2025. 😢️ You may want to try contacting Cronosoft instead to see if they will grant permission.

Ohhhh!!! I had no idea....so sad.....Thanks a lot for telling.... I thanks Tony to his passion and strength to his family and friends. :(

Very nice shooter. Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 04:09:34. Subscription to our YouTube or Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

I really want to dive into this game but no matter how many times I hit J for joystick it does not enable the joystick on my 48k. Not sure what i'm doing wrong. Help please :)

Using a DIVMMC and a monster joystick. 100% kempston compatible

Hi, the game supports Interface2 or Sinclair joystick but unfortunately not Kempston interface.

I know this is an old reply but I thought I'd ask in case your still reading.  Is there a particular reason to not support Kempston?  Just curious. :)

Hi, it was a technical knowledge restriction at the time of developing the game using SEUD. We had to jump through a few hoops to get it working with Interface2/Sinclair joysticks :)

Cool beans.  That makes sense.  I wouldn't know where to begin, myself.  Thanks for the reply. :)

Awesome game!

Thank you :)
